Visiting the House of Igigi and a Contest
Tonight I am having dinner with my friends Yuliya Raquel and Ozlem Arpaci from Igigi, and Lisa and Jim Dolan who own Lee Lee’s Valise. It is sure to be a fun filled evening and I will post a report tomorrow.
Remember that contest that I promised you a couple of weeks ago? It all started when I visited the Igigi showroom. Contest details at the bottom, after my report of my day at Igigi.
When I was in San Francisco last month I was fortunate to meet Yuliya Raquel, the design talent behind the House of Igigi. My appointment to tour the studio was with Ozlem, Yuliya’s confidant, business manager and sargeant-at-arms.
I am a big fan of Yuliya’s design talents and I was thrilled when I learned that she would be joining Ozlem and I for lunch. But lunch would be later in the afternoon and first, I got to try on clothes.
This is the Floral Creme Brulee Dress. When I came out of the dressing room I told Yuliya and Ozlem that this dress is a miracle, and it absolutely is. Yes, I know that my lacy black bra is much too revealed and I would never leave the house like that, but I wanted you to see how it looked on my body shape. I am your virtual mannequin!
I am 5’7″ and I have a rack of doom (38DDD), so there is probably enough fabric to cover your tata’s, while I must wear a cami. But I decided that the dress is worth it. I am wearing a size 12 because the 14 was too big for me.
There are so many incredible design touches that I can not rave about this dress enough. There is a bit of ribbon on the sleeve that compliments detail on the neckline. The dress is designed to wrap, with the attached belt wrapping inside the dress and through the side, so the belt wraps around to tie in front. There is enough fabric to cover you (there was too much fabric in the 14 for my shape and that’s why I chose the 12), and most importantly the quality of the fabric is luscious. It floats beautifully, doesn’t cling, shines like silk…and for $112.00? I told Yuliya she should charge more so I suggest you get this dress before I talk her into it.
This is the Francesca dress in amethyst, size 12. I don’t think I need to say much here. A cut above the basic low cut cocktail dress and it is simply gorgeous. The fabric is a good medium weight, is fully lined, and glides around my legs as I walk.
I absolutely love this dress. I think it works best as an evening dress and I don’t think that I would wear this to the office. Perfect for dinner out, going to hear live music and dancing, etc. I would even wear this to the Metropolitan Museum of Art on evenings when they open galleries with a bar cart and a jazz combo.
They have things like that where you live, right?
This is the Breezy Morning Dress in size 12 I should have tried the 14. I am posting this pic of myself, your virtual mannequin, because I wanted you to see what it looks like to wear something that is too small. You’re welcome.
The top of the dress is a similar knit to the Francesca dress, and the bottom is similar fabric to the Creme Brulee. The reason the dress fits so differently is because of the differences in the two fabrics and the style of the dress. This is not a wrap dress (there is a zipper on the left side), and so there is no extra fabric to adjust to your shape. I suggest you order one size larger.
Friendly faces at Igigi:

I wish I could find my notepad with everyone's name. Thank you for letting me post your picture, guy who works for Igigi.
AND NOW FOR THE CONTEST
Please post a comment (you click on the word “comment” beneath this post) with a link to something that you would get from the Igigi website and where you would wear it. Next Tuesday, June 22nd, I will be choosing by random number generator a winner for a $100 Igigi gift certifiate.
Cocktails at the museum? Best friend’s wedding? Someone planning on proposing to you? Your kid is graduating from college? Your kid is finally moving out? Be dressed for the occasion, or any occasion. Be ready for those moments when people take out their cameras. Igigi offers fashion, real fashion with a real design sensibility. The quality of the fabrics and the stitching is outstanding. I would say that their clothes are worth every penny so good luck in winning that $100!

i would get this and wear it out on a date…so cute and flirty!

so pretty
Here’s what caught my eye, the Sunshine Wrap Dress:
http://www.igigi.com/plus-size-new-arrivals/walking-on-sunshine-wrap-dress.html
It’s casual enough that it would work for a day at the office. I’m currently unemployed and desperately trying to get back into the world of work. I love Igigi’s dresses but can’t even afford one on a good money day!
I would order the creme brulee dress. I think it is perfect for a romantic evening out on the town. It soft and feminine with a beautiful shine that would almost glow at night.
OMG Ive been lusting, absolutely LUSTING, for an igigi dress since I first heard if them on Shapely Prose. But I dont make a lot of extra money and something always seems to come up, so I’ve never been able to buy that dress.
Theres a LOT that I love up in their catalouge right now, but I am in need of a sophisticated, classy, yet fun and sexy day dress for dating. Ive been enjoying my singledom for a year now and now I’m ready to start dating again! ( I think.) I’ve got my eye on “its Raining Flowers” dress: here.
I really hope that random generator picks my number! *crosses fingers, thumbs, legs and toes*
If I get that dress, I will need to buy fuschia shoes…
I love Igigi — every time I wear clothes by Yulia I get tons of compliments.
I think this dress would be the one, Sorbetto Delights Dress in Purple:
http://www.igigi.com/plus-size-new-arrivals/sorbetto-delights-dress-in-purple.html
I *need* the “Ferrera Gown”. I would wear it for Chritmas and New Year’s, and whenever else I could get away with it. I have this fantasy in my head where I go on a date wearing this; I just know I would get a tongue-on-the-floor kinda reaction=)
My biggest problem is picking just *one* thing. Lots of dresses and a skirt I’d wear to work.
Though, my brother’s getting married Labor Day Weekend, and they’re taking a cruise, so the Romance on the Yacht dress would be all kinds of appropriate. http://www.igigi.com/plus-size-dresses/romance-on-the-yacht-dress.html
I would order the Evelyn Dress in Blue/White, because it is cotton, and summery. I know how well the Igigi fit works for me, but I need more cotton dresses. I would wear it to work with a summer blazer on days I need to kick ass and take names, and then go for lunch on the patio.
Ooh, this has a lovely swishy skirt. I’m heading to a con this summer and this would be the perfect thing to take dancing.

I’d get the tropical beauty maxi dress! I love maxi dresses and the colors in this one are just divine! I’d wear it to church with the shrug and to outdoor concerts without.
One of my friends is getting married later this summer and I would love to wear the flower power top and color me happy skirt in the combo they have pictured on the site.

and
http://www.igigi.com/plus-size-separates/color-me-happy-skirt.html
It took me a long time to actually do the high waisted thing, and i realized I LOVE it!
I would get the Evelyn dress in blue and white. I would wear it to the office regularly during the summer!
I would definitely buy the It’s Raining Flowers Dress – it would be the perfect dress for the casual summer wedding of my best friend. I love that it has sleeves – finally a dress I can wear without a shrug!
http://www.igigi.com/plus-size-dresses/plus-size-casual-dress/sorbetto-delights-dress-in-purple.html
I would wear this on a first date. It would make my curves look rockin’!
http://www.igigi.com/plus-size-dresses/francesca-dress-in-black.html or http://www.igigi.com/plus-size-dresses/ferrera-gown.html
I would love to wear either one!
I love the happy flowers dress
http://www.igigi.com/plus-size-dresses/happy-in-flowers-dress.html and it looks so cute with the purple shrug!
I wear dresses quite frequently to work or out for drinks with friends but I think the light print of that one makes it best for an afternoon wedding or a lunch date.
I have two Igigi dresses and I absolutely adore them. I’m so thankful that they are an option for gorgeous plus sized clothes!
I have been lusting after the Creme Brulee dress ever since I saw it on the Igigi site! But with conversion rates the way they are and adding shipping costs to it, there is no way I can afford it, so winning it would be awesome! And as to where I would wear it? Where wouldnt I wear it?! I would definitely wear it next time I make a media appearance regarding Fat Acceptance!
How to choose just one. I’d love to wear them ALL!
Having to make a choice, I think I’d go with this http://www.igigi.com/plus-size-separates/bolero-style-shrug-in-purple.html>outfit (the dress by itself is here. I love the lightness and brightness.
I would wear this EVERYWHERE!
I’m not sure whether my comment disappeared or is in moderation, so I’m trying again.
How to choose just one? I’d love to wear everything on the site. Having to choose just one, I’d choose this outfit. (The dress by itself is here.
I love the lightness and brightness and the cheerful color combination. (I’m so tired of being offered clothing only in boring neutrals. I’m fat, not frumpy!) I would wear this EVERYWHERE!!!
There are so many that I like! The Chantal Lace dress might be my favorite: http://www.igigi.com/plus-size-dresses/plus-size-cocktail-dress/chantal-lace-dress.html, but I crave he Maxi dresses too
I would get the walking on sunshine dress and wear it to dinner with the inlaws who we haven’t seen since last year (hopefully they are visiting next month). Here’s the link:
http://www.igigi.com/plus-size-dresses/plus-size-casual-dress/walking-on-sunshine-wrap-dress.html
It is very difficult to select only one of the dresses but I finally picked the it’s raining flowers one. It is casual but still work appropriate (with a cami) so I would be able to wear it everywhere.
http://www.igigi.com/plus-size-dresses/plus-size-casual-dress/it-s-raining-flowers-dress.html
Okay, I did read the rules, but I would really love two separates instead of a dress:
I love love love this skirt
http://www.igigi.com/plus-size-separates/color-me-happy-skirt.html
and this shirt
http://www.igigi.com/plus-size-separates/flower-power-top.html
I would wear this everyday
I don’t mean it would be something I could wear everyday, I would actually wear it everyday until it started to snow!!!!
My mom is getting married next summer, I would use this to help make her dress a little easier for her to buy, she bought my dress for my wedding this summer and I want to be able to help her back. My picture is posted on facebook, I loved the dress and I want her to feel as beautiful as I did on this special day.
http://www.igigi.com/plus-size-new-arrivals/mediterranean-get-away-maxi-dress.html
I absolutely love the mediterranean get away maxi dress. I would love to wear it singing on a summer recital program.
I would love to wear this sunny outfit to a Sunday morning service at my church. Definately says Happy!
http://www.igigi.com/plus-size-new-arrivals/flower-power-top.html
http://www.igigi.com/plus-size-new-arrivals/color-me-happy-skirt.html
http://www.igigi.com/plus-size-clothing/estrella-gown-in-black.html
There are a closet full of things I would choose but this would give me a lot if use. I am a clasical singer and this is very versitle. I can wear it with a black satin shrug when i need long sleeves, and always have an elegant gown on hand should the need arise… I LOVE it in the purple too! but would get more use out of the black. Eventually I want both… Looking forward to the fall line empire waist long sleeve black to come back into play.
WE SINGERS NEED NON MATRONLY LONG SLEEVE BLACK GOWNS FOR GIGS!
its always my search….
The happy flowers, morning breeze, romance on the yacht, the evelyn dresses… i love things in cotton… too many riches to choose from.
I could go on forever!
Thank you!
Love the picture but now I just want all the dresses, did you try any of the maxi dresses?
What a fun filled day! you must have truly enjoyed trying on IGIGI dresses. What fun
