I am finally famous. It’s about freaking time.

Thanks to the technological wonders provided by gadget geeks, I know what you are saying about me on the internet. Oh yes, I know when you Tweet about me, re-Tweet me (I love when that happens) and especially important — I know when you are stealing my content.

Recently, I found out that I am so famous that this entire blog is being stolen. Honestly, it’s about freaking time.

Thank you plusultrablog for importing my ENTIRE blog into your site. Not just the posts where I write about plus size fashion and sales, but you even stole the piece I wrote about my mother’s cancer. Classy.

And um…plus ultra blog. Just…oh my. How fabulous. I wish I had thought of that. Put up a blog that has no original content and no comments, then claim to be the ultra blog. Hee hee…hey Chucklehead, did you learn that in business class?

Yes I sent them an email telling them they are naughty children and to cut that shit out, and I have sent emails to other bloggers whose posts I recognize, but since all identifying names have been removed (but not the links to outside websites) if you have a Body Positive, Fat Positive, Health at Every Size, Diets Are For Dummies, etc., type of blog then you might want to check for yourself to make sure you aren’t also being ripped off.

Seriously though, I am wondering why it has taken so long for this to happen.

Perhaps I have not been controversial enough to have my blog posts stolen. I think it is very important to be nice — of world impact importance — and I have been using my desire for more niceness in the world to be my excuse to avoid internet fights and stay out of the mud slinging.

But, I am realizing that it isn’t nice to pretend that I don’t feel strongly about issues. But I do feel strongly about many things and I am going to write about it here. It is very nice to be honest, tell people where your boundaries are, and to be engaged in important discussions. It is nice to speak honestly and passionately even if those discussions become heated.

And so for 2010 I promise to roll out all kinds of controversy! I’m gonna have blog wars with bloggity badassness so watch out.

You hear me plusultrablog? I’m coming for you.

  1. Wow! I’m so sorry this happened, Corinna. I’m even madder about the post about your mom.

  2. I’m seeing that too – also with blogs that try to aggregate all weight-loss or exercise info into one blog (because of course a blog about weighing 400lbs has to be about weight loss).

I’ve also sent “stop it” emails. I do find that setting my RSS to only include a part of my post (with a link to the rest) really helps cut down on that stuff.

  3. I went back through their entries and couldnt find anything that was mine but they might have already removed it. Some people are just pathetic, stealing an entry about your mum’s illness (and having the photos as well!) is just an incredibly low act. Thanks for alerting me to this, I will be keeping an eye on them!

  4. oh no, i’m sorry to hear that. i dont understand why some people would even do such thing…like, what kind of joy are they getting out of this? i hope this gets sorted out soon.

  5. Sorry about that! We installed this aggregator and it was supposed to publish only part of your posts and send traffic your way! I have removed everything! None of this was done by an actual person. WPOmatic plugin was installed and it was supposed to publish interesting post about weight loss. Unfortunately, we mis-configured it. Everything is removed. :( Again, I am sorry about that!

  6. thats just sick, stealing post about your mom.

  7. what sarah means to say is they bought a domain with a good google ranking and let a computer program scrape other sites for related content so they can sell the domain later for more $$. yuck. that’s not what the web is about!

anyway, i entered you in this contest. http://www.plus-sizebra.com/contest maybe winning a gift card will make you smile :) but you need to go back and put in your domain to get the code. good luck!

  8. @R – thank you for entering me in a contest. What fun. And yeah, using a program to scrape content from other sites is exactly what they did. And she is totally lying about her site being about weight loss – the only sites they were stealing from were sites like this one and I never talk about weight loss.

  9. Well congrats on being famous! I should have gotten your autograph on that plane ride we shared! :-) As you can see, I’m always looking for the bright side of the contrast, as Abraham would teach us.

I had something like this happen to me once (that I checked) and wrote to the site and they promptly removed it. It wasn’t about body issues: just some of my positive living types of ideas. Now I don’t bother to check this anymore so who knows how prevalent it may be. I guess I’ve turned it over to the Universe that it will all be ok. I know my ideas are mine and I give credit to others when I use theirs so if that is what I’m focusing on, I’m intending to attract readers with the same values. :-)

  10. What’s the world come to!
