Gone for a bit…now I’m back

corinna-wicked-grin.jpgI just needed a break. I suppose I could have asked other bloggers to pitch in and help write a few posts…I have certainly done that for a few other folks…but honestly, I thought it would be OK to just hang a “Gone Fishing” sign in the window and that you would understand.

This Lush Life redesign and relaunch

This Lush Life will look very different soon and it is oh so exciting! Lots of very technical stuff has been going on behind the scenes here at Lush Life corporate HQ (the dining room table) and I know you are going to love the new look of the site. Lots of new plus size clothes and an easy to use search function. I’m bringing the full-figured fashion and rocking the internet to bring your wardrobe needs straight to your closet.

Some Information about Full Figured Fashion Week

If you were out of town, or even if you were in New York and just couldn’t make it, I can tell you that you really didn’t miss anything. I dropped out a couple of days before the event. This was in no way a fashion industry event, there were no well known designers or manufacturers affiliated and the closer we got to the first day of “events” the more I realized that this was just another fat girl fashion show put together by an event promoter in order to make money.

I am completely in favor of people making money, and I am certainly always happy to see fashion designers, particularly those who are designing for women with fuller figures, have their work shown to the public. I feel that the name of the event was completely misleading because this really had nothing to do with with the fashion week that happens in large cities around the world, showing a designer’s new line and selling product to retailers. The big name designers didn’t even know about it so how could this possibly be considered “Fashion Week?” Major retail buyers weren’t invited, and wouldn’t have come anyway since they go to large trade shows to buy inventory for their outlets.

I feel badly for the those people who own boutiques who flew in from around the country. They would be much better off in the future attending larger, garment industry wholesale/retail events.

Cancer happens

My mom has a rare form of lymphoma. She starts chemo in about a week. I’ll provide updates but I’m going to be driving back and forth to help her out and I really don’t know anything more than that right now. The oncologist says that no matter what type of lymphoma you may have it is still better than having carcinoma and that it should be highly treatable. We are staying upbeat and hopeful.

Good Things Happen Too

I’ll be updating more often now and in a couple of days I’ll post pics of the addition that we are building on our house. Woo hoo renovation!

  1. Sending you good vibes for your mom’s chemo. It is stressful to go through, but a posative attitude really helps the healing.

  2. Thinking good thoughts and sending good vibes for your mother. I hope she sees a speedy and a full recovery.

  3. Hey Corinna, thanks for the update on your happenings. Sounds like FFFW was a “bust”. Regular Fashion Week is this weekend, so they were definitely trying to allege they were the “alternative” Fashion Week. Sounds shameful. All the best on your mom. Looking forward to those pics!

  4. I’m glad you are back! So sorry to hear about your mom, prayers to your family. My father is also battling cancer, and my sister is a survivor, so my heart goes out to YOU, for all you are going through.

  5. Hello, you Awesome Creature! Your grandma used to call you “beautiful creature” soon after you were born, but she also referred to a baby as “it.” Your quiet grandpa would just silently write your name in the frost on the window. Anyway you deserve an additional adjective.

Am liking your websites so much — my friends are impressed too! I hope I will be up for a shopping expedition soon and for now am enjoying getting tips for the fall and winter fashions from your sites.

I have a sort of surrogate daughter these days — hope you don’t mind. She’s a marvelous baker……

  6. We’re having a hard time just picking someone to repaint the house…adding a whole new piece? That’d take like…years…

  7. Sending you and your family the best of thoughts. I hope your doctor’s wonderful optimism pays off! :-)
