Shoes (glorious shoes) with style and comfort.
A couple of weeks ago I showed you a gorgeous pair of Svoboda jeans as the centerpiece of a wardrobe ensemble. I gave you links to every item but somehow I neglected to tell you about the shoe! My apologies for this oversight. My thanks to C for commenting and requesting more information.
May I offer some shoe suggestions for all day comfort and cuteness?
Introducing the Vaneli Indo. A sassy little heel with lots of attitude. You want a shoe that will complement your outfit from day to evening? This is the footwear for you.
If you are looking for comfortable shoes that come in wide widths there is a tremendous selection available. Personally, I love the Sofft brand. I wear them all day in fashionable comfort.
If you are looking for a flat, this is a beautiful shoe.
If you are looking for a high heel to carry you from the office to dinner to the night club perhaps this patent leather peek-toe beauty?
I have found that Foot Petals have completely changed my relationship with high heels from a heartbreaking movie on Lifetime to a romance novel.
What are your favorite shoe brands? Do you swear by whatever discount store is at the mall or do you invest in footwear like Warren Buffet invests in stocks? Living in New York City, fashion capital of the world, I have many friends who only buy famous designer shoes. But New Yorkers are also bargain shoppers and I love me some sample sales, showroom sales and certain discount warehouses.
I completely rely on Zappos. I order 5 or 6 pairs of shoes at a time, try them on at home with the clothes I want to wear them with, in front of my own mirror. I make sure to walk carefully because it is important that the shoes aren’t scuffed if you want to return them. Because they offer free shipping both ways I save money on gas and have a much larger selection than I do at any one shoe store. The return shipping is overnight and the money I spent is credited to my credit card within 48 hours. I love me some Zappos.

I love me some Doc Martens because they fit my short, fat feet very well and the sizes are pretty consistent throught the style (other than the sandals, which just don’t fit me right). I’ve been purchasing and wearing DMs for some 15 years, and I do think that the craftsmanship and longevity of the shoes have gone downhill (the first pair I bought I was able to wear for over four years; now they have only a year or two lifespan. The first pair I bought was the only pair of shoes I owned at the time; current pairs are rotated regularly), they are still superior to most shoes I’ve tried. The price hasn’t gone up too much, either.
Finding shoes wide enough for my feet made a huge difference. I have less foot, hip, and back pain, better balance, and am more physically active. I’m a lot more stable while walking and running. It’s pretty awesome. I love me some round-toed shoes, I must say.
I actually own a pair of those Mary Janes. They are so comfortable and so cute. Great for work and play. I have had many compliments about them. They look great with colored tights too. I’m really digging purple at the moment.
